Put the fat cats on a diet: Stop buying tainted food from billion dollar corporations
"I have not spoken to one farmer who doesn't understand the message of Occupy Wall Street, the message that so many people keep saying is nebulous. It's very clear. Because of business and corporate participation in agriculture, farmers are losing their livelihoods... And if it goes on like this, all we're going to have to eat in this country is unregulated, imported, genetically modified produce. That's not a healthy food system." Jim Gerritsen, a Maine organic farmer....[full story]

Fast food nutrition facts - mystery ingredients are industrial chemicals
Many people think occasional junk food indulgence can be balanced out by skipping meals later in the week or by putting in some extra time on the treadmill. The truth is that the consequences of this type of eating can turn up in unexpected ways, often years later as toxins accumulate in your body and cause serious illnesses like cancer or diabetes....[full story]

Natural medicine for cancer - Do not let the revolution be stopped
For those who can look beyond the much hyped "war on cancer," a very different kind of war is actually being fought behind the scenes, on a scale few people realize. Cancer drug sales are forecast to reach $80 billion during 2012. But its greatest competitor, natural medicine for cancer, has been silently progressing at a revolutionary pace. Over 250 early-stage clinical trials are now active and directly threaten one of Big Pharma's biggest cash cows. But make no mistake, this revolution is anything but safe. Because one just like it was put on ice almost exactly thirty years ago....[full story]

SAVE YOUR BUSINESS
What started out as just an idea has now become reality. When I first heard in early July that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had just released its “Draft Guidance for Industry: Dietary Supplements: New Dietary Ingredient Notifications and Related Issues,” almost my first thought was that the watershed date of October 15, 1994, set in the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) – which defines as “new” any dietary ingredients introduced into the marketplace after that date and requires their notification to the FDA before sale – had to be changed. I even expressed that idea immediately to John Hathcock of the Council for Responsible Nutrition with whom I had been talking at the Codex Alimentarius Commission meeting in Geneva, Switzerland that first week of July....[full story]

Four powerful ways help reverse diabetes
There are many benefits to finding ways to reverse diabetes. A big one is its expense. According to the American Diabetes Association, the combined cost of medical care and lost productivity due to diabetes in the United States exceeded $174 billion in 2007. People with diabetes pay 2.3 times as much for health care as non-diabetics, and $1 in every $10 spent for health care is attributable to diabetes. Once diabetes was largely considered a disease of adults, but today so many children receive this diagnosis it is no longer referred to as adult onset. Fortunately, given the pervasiveness and expense of diabetes, there are cost effective holistic remedies, which could make an important contribution towards its reversal, thus avoiding a great deal of pain and suffering and saving a lot of money....[full story]

Watch Out: These Foods Seriously Mess With Your Health
Nearly all processed foods in the United States contain genetically modified (GM) ingredients, particularly Bt corn and Roundup Ready soy. These crops and other GM varieties are now planted on nearly 4 billion acres of land throughout 29 countries, as their makers (primarily Monsanto, Dupont, Syngenta) continue to praise their worth....[full story]

Feds allow arsenic in apple juice?
This past year, I started writing a health and fitness column through Creators Syndicate titled "C-Force." It is no surprise that in researching for that column I've discovered repeat offenses of food and beverage tampering by the federal government. But arsenic in apple juice?...[full story]

Use flower remedies to harmonize the body, mind and spirit
Dr. Edward Bach noticed that people with similar attitudes often had similar complaints. He concluded that mood and a negative outlook on life predisposed people toward ill-health and that illness is a manifestation of a deeper mental or emotional health imbalance. Flower essences are said to contain the life forces of the flowers used to make them. They work by relieving negative feelings, and they encourage the healing process by balancing energy in the body....[full story]

New evidence chemotherapy for breast cancer causes brain damage
Primary breast cancer (meaning a breast malignancy that hasn't spread to other parts of the body) isn't usually thought of as causing neurological problems. After all, if cancer hasn't spread to the brain, why would it? Researchers have been forced to wonder about the answer to that question because a growing body of evidence over the past several years strongly suggests that women with breast cancer are at increased risk for not only problems with brain function but with actual alterations in their brain structure, too....[full story]

Hundreds of brave dentists speak out against water fluoridation
It takes a special kind of humility for a medical professional to admit that something he or she was taught in medical school, and has long since clung to as fact, is actually false. But a growing number of dentists from around the world, many of whom formerly supported water fluoridation, are now boldly speaking out against it as a long-held, unsubstantiated medical dogma purported to prevent tooth decay, but that actually damages health and provides no legitimate oral health benefits....[full story]

Your baby monitor may not be protecting your child
As a parent, you certainly only want what is best for your child. Health Basics: What is MSG?
Monosodium Glutamate, better known as MSG, is a form of concentrated salt added to foods to enhance the flavor. This salt version of glutamic acid is an amino acid the body can produce on its own, but the MSG we find on store shelves is processed and comes from fermented sugar beets. Because this kind of MSG is processed, it can cause many adverse reactions, including skin rashes, itching, hives, nausea, vomiting, migraine headaches, asthma, heart irregularities, depression and even seizures....[full story]

ATTENTION: ENVIRONMENTALLY DESTRUCTIVE WIND TURBINES SHOULD NOT BE BUILT IN IMPORTANT BIRD AREAS
Just picture hundreds of industrial wind turbines scattered across the South Shore IBA in Prince Edward County and adjacent IBAs.  The Liberal Government’s promotion and expansion of industrial wind turbines needs to be stopped once and for all where IBAs exist.  It is time we, as a people, expressed our concern and opinions to the Ontario Legislature....[full story]
